LOST BODIES | Žarko Ćulić

TheLost Bodies/dying artist seriesexplores concepts of art-making by alternating roles of photographer/modelduring the artists’ immersion into material aspects of culture.  The artist’s exposed bodies, basic cameramechanics, and natural properties of the environment are all elements incontributing to a newly formed image.  Eachof these elements are reduced and objectified to their most fundamentalqualities and through the vision of collaboration, new life is formed and aunique image transpires.  These imagesare moments of cultural transformation: they draw parallels betweenregeneration in nature and culture and effectively juxtapose the ephemeralqualities of photography with the preservation of spirit.
