Calvin Klein White Label Spring 2015

Calvin Klein White Label Spring 2015

Seamlessly going from gym to jeans to ready-to-wear — it’s what global Calvin Klein creative director Kevin Carrigan aimed for this spring, and he coolly blurred all three aspects at Wednesday morning’s presentation. “Bodies in motion, velocity, speed, city, but clothes that have freedom, ease and are relaxed,” he said. Sticking to a typically Calvin monochromatic palette — mostly white, black and silver — the designer worked a gritty city vibe with athletic influences, as in the bra top with mesh inset shown with low-slung light blue jeans, the new Intense Power underwear line’s bold logo waistband, which was inspired by prizefighters, peeking above the waist. The casual feel extended to sporty, jersey-lined nylon jackets, tailored blazers teamed with sweatpants, and several Neoprene numbers, including a laser-cut dress and a pencil skirt with a graphic grid print. The lineup’s chic athletic look also extended to the men’s wear. The brand’s signature minimalist aesthetic blended with high-performance sportswear worked best in a light-gray unconstructed blazer paired with compression leggings. Performance attributes were also evident in the updated underwear offerings, which ranged from mesh-cotton trunks with ergonomic seams to microfiber boxer briefs with those bold waistbands. Carrigan’s nod to Nineties’ Calvin was most apparent in the worn-in denim looks in pale colors with powdery finishes.
