John Varvatos Mens Fall/Winter 2015 Milan

The runway was littered with crunchy autumn leaves and the backdrop dotted with barren trees bitten by winter’s first frost.
John Varvatos‘ fall/winter 2015 collection was influenced by historic images of legend Bob Dylan in Central Park during his musical heyday.

With Green Day’s rendition of “Like a Rolling Stone” setting the pace, it was clear that the Varvatos man likes a modern version of the trenches and leather coats Dylan used to wear — spruced up with criss cross belts and luxurious beaver furs.

Models topped in velvety stove pipe hats donned 19th century-like pinstripe pants and fitted vests, silky neck scarves and coat tails crafted with rounded edges. Leather pants and double-belted military jackets gave the collection the possibility of captivating the 25 to 35 demographic.

“All Along the Watchtower” by Eddie Vedder & The Million Dollar Bashers played and the sun set on the collection, giving birth to glossy evening suits with rain drop polka dot prints and low-heeled boots adorned with animal prints.

Dylan’s “Hurricane” closed the show and we were reminded of a time when music was still allegorical and told stories about inequality and real people. It was nice to know that in the fashion world, designers are still capable of moving the crowd with their inner poetry.
