It’s surreal how to describe this content, but this is art in its essence, we present artist visual and photographer Gerardo Vizmanos and his the project entitled  The Diagnosis (work in progress):

The Diagnosis is a performative project designed by the artist Abel Azcona and developed and performed with the special collaboration of the artist Gerardo Vizmanos in the city of New York between January and March 2015. The artists identify and work with twelve adults diagnosed in mental illness psychiatric institutions in the United States.

Between November and December 2014 Azcona was admitted for a twelfth time in a psychiatric clinic during these months he was again diagnosed and shared space and rooms with different people diagnosed with various mental illnesses. As result of this period Abel Azcona decided to raise this reflection experiences about diagnosis in mental health.

Twelve mentally ill bodily dialogue with his own reflection. We show as they are, their nakedness, their vulnerability. Some laugh, others cry, all reflect. People with the only link being diagnosed as ill by a specialist. All holders of a mental disorder, owners of Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, chronic depression or personality disorder.

The subjects are absolute protagonists and they are free to drive their bodies. The patient converges in being the artist and the artwork. He is not socially abused or vilified. We hear their skin, their movements and reflexions. A dialog of naked bodies with the only element of a mirror that can reflect what is and what is not, as the company is able to reflect and feel the same.
