W.R.K By Matteo Gottardi Reveals Fall/Winter 2015 New York

Every season W.R.K is inspired by a different occupation and the man who holds it. This season W.R.K designer Matteo Gottardi was inspired by the Anchorage Alaska SWAT, their rigorous lifestyle, and stringent physical agility. The collection incorporates technical elements of the SWAT uniform: mesh, ottoman stitch and grosgrain fabrications. Every detail is derived from their uniform: structured and tailored blazers, hoodies and rigid silhouettes. Also present in the collection are W.R.K’s signature construction such as reinforced seams and articulated sleeves that serve a purpose to the elite force but also appeal to the man passionate about well-crafted clothing. Literal fabrications such as neoprene, waterproof zippers and quilting are part of the vocabulary for the season. Gottardi lines outerwear in the collection with fleece for durability and comfort. Additional layers of fabric represent the padding of the uniform and the protection needed to carry out an officer's duty. W.R.K’s color palette for the season is a mixture of dark gray, black and tonal blue that remind us of the predominantly dark, arctic environment, juxtaposed by snow whites and reds and purple mountains majesty. The geographical prints reflect the distinctive arctic landscape; through the depths of the mountains, aerial views of the mountain peaks and glaciers in black on white and vice versa. The overall mood is dark, at times aggressive, just like the elite force, which is stern, masculine and unapologetic. It is W.R.K.
