Riffing on the growing popularity of personalization in fashion, Faith Connexion took its heavily distressed interpretation of street style to new levels of unorthodoxy for spring.
The design collective set its sights on the punk and grunge movements, with a bit of Americana thrown in for good measure, offering up a chaotic, colorful array of loud, clashing creations that are oh-so now, though not for the faint-hearted.
Camouflage cargo pants and parkas in an array of shapes and sizes; cargo harem pants in a red-and-white-striped silk-cotton blend, or khaki suede; leather and suede jackets with lace or fringe details; outsized, heavily crumpled and selectively bleached check shirts; scruffy tie-dye T-shirts, and baggy sweaters with almost more holes than knit were all given the Faith Connexion treatment.
Animal prints, metallic studs and gemlike appliquéd beads offered a touch of glam rock, the latter as on a lilac silk jacket that looked custom-designed for David Bowie at his flamboyant height, while a distressed velvet pastel leopard-print gilet would have been perfect for a rave circa 1989.
Graffiti artist Pisco Logik collaborated again on a range of hand-painted designs, including a leather jacket emblazoned with the Union Jack flag, while the brand tied up with Italian denim up-cycling label NTMB Never Too Much Basic on articles like denim jackets and shorts with appliquéd denim stars. Rock ’n’ roll, baby.
