Jeffrey Fashion Cares is one of the leading fashion lifestyle charity events in New York City. Established in 2002 by Jeffrey Kalinsky, fashion and retail pioneer, and has raised over $5 million for respected charity organizations supporting LGBT civil rights, HIV prevention & research, and education for LGBT youth. Jeffrey Fashion Cares 201714

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum (NYC), played host Monday night to Jeffrey Fashion Cares 2017, event is now in its 14th year, with masses of fashionable fellas — and ladies — ascending the World War II battleship’s gangplank for the annual New York fund-raiser.

One of the hottest items during the live auction was a chance to spend the day on set during a photo shoot with a muscley male model Diego Miguel. Bidding only increased once the hunk took his shirt off at the urging of the crowd.

“I only mean that I hold my breath, hoping that everything goes well, and that when it’s over I know I can relax and kind of enjoy myself,” he quickly added, lest you think he’s over his own event.

“There is a big part of me that is tired and sometimes thinks about life without this, I feel like I can’t do that,” he mused. “This is too important. The moneys too important. I’m just going to keep going.” According to Jeffrey Kalinsky.

Clearly, the assembled crowd that comes back year after year hopes so. Actor Giles Marini, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, designers Brandon Maxwell and Joseph Altuzarra, and model couple Samantha Gradoville and Sean O’Pry were just a few of the guests who had boarded the retired aircraft carrier that constitutes the The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum for last Monday’s event.

However, guests didn’t seem to mind the ship’s industrial setting as they sipped tequila cocktails, snacked on quesadillas and perused silent auction offerings placed beside Forties wartime relics.

“Sometimes you think, well, how much can an event like this make,” proposed famed nightlife hostess Susanne Bartsch, her matchstick-long false eyelashes fluttering with each sip of red wine. “But in the end it’s also to let people know that we’re united in something. It’s not all about raising money.”

“I go to a lot of the [charity] dinners in New York and I don’t like them,” continued Kalinsky. “I don’t like to hear people talk and I don’t like to sit at a dinner. I’d rather come to something like this where I can visit and then get to see these handsome guys walk down a runway and you’re done. I think that’s a good formula.”
