How to Look Your Best in a Photo

How to Look Your Best in a Photo

We all know that one friend; that one family member; that one awkward stranger at the party who simply hates, despises and loathes having their picture taken.

To some, it comes as naturally as walking or breathing.

The camera comes out, the stock perfect smile comes out, the gleaming teeth are shown, the camera flashes and a perfect photo is taken.

Those of us for whom this process does not come easily stare on in bafflement at the ease with which these photogenic friends seem to get it done, while we’re quietly sitting in the corner, head down, playing our third game of wizardslots.com and avoiding contact with our pesky flashing foe.

Try your level best to look natural

Some of us are embarrassed or lets just say less than fond of our smiles. We’ve contrived a little smile here and there in the mirror and our face becomes contorted, or chubby, or awkward.

If you set your mind to it, you’ll most likely realise that the photos of yourself that you are most fond of are the ones where you have no idea the photo is actually being taken.

You may be laughing, or smiling away contently, not having a clue that someone is snapping your natural face.

What you’ll realise is that the people who have that stock smile and who always seem to look great in photos are the ones who have managed, somehow, whether by practising in the mirror or not, to master their ‘looking natural face.’

If you can master your natural smile in a contrived situation, you’ll never have a bad photo taken of you ever again!

Don’t forget you can play all your favourite online games over at WizardSlots.

Background is key

Okay, to be fair, you don’t always get to choose the background of the photos in which you are portrayed.

Perhaps this point is more directed towards those who plan a photograph – maybe to have a new profile picture.

Nevertheless, the background in a portrait style photo is key. It completely varies depending on your complexion, your hair colour, your clothes and more.

For example, if you have red or ginger hair, it’s probably advisable that you don’t get your photo taken in front of a red or orange background – it won’t be your most flattering look, I can assure you.

If you have pale skin, although it may appear quite striking, it may not be the best idea to have your photo taken in front of a very dark background – unless your aim is to accentuate your paleness!

Look as if you’re enjoying yourself

We all know at least one person who takes themselves far too seriously in photos.

That one person who pouts or smoulders when everyone else in the photo is smiling.

This is not a good look. It more often than not suggests that you’re probably more vain than everyone else in the photo, and that you take the whole business of having your photo taken rather seriously!

It is much more attractive to look as if the whole business is more frivolous.
