Dolce & Gabbana Alta Sartoria Menswear Collection July 2020

Like an Italian journey through beauty and love, every garment is inspired by unique places and recalls memories of enchanting holidays this is Dolce & Gabbana Alta Sartoria Menswear Collection July 2020.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana presented their latest Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria collections (the design duo’s answer to haute couture) in Milan yesterday.

Staged in the historic Palazzo Litta in Milan, this was the first time that the house has presented Alta Moda, for women, on the same runway as Alta Sartoria, for men, in a show that featured a staggering 60-plus looks. Never a house to do things by halves, this latest presentation was a homecoming in many ways.

After its recent PR disaster in China, which resulted in the cancellation of its much anticipated The Great Show in Shanghai, this was a return to familiar and friendly territory. But it was also a return to themes that are fundamental to the brands DNA: culture, life and the arts.

Grand stairways, spectacular frescoes and elegant details render Palazzo Dolce&Gabbana the ideal setting for the Alta Gioielleria, Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria exclusive events.

Explore the magnificent palace, a testimony to Dolce&Gabbana’s love of rich history and design.

The Alta Gioielleria creations include a pink gold “DG7 Gems full pavé” watch and a detachable yellow and white gold brooch-pendant embellished with rhodolite garnets, rubies and diamonds. The look is enriched with rings in yellow and white gold that boast various precious stones.

Golden lurex pinstripes characterize the model’s matching crêpe kaftan, trousers and scarf in the Alta Sartoria event at Palazzo Dolce&Gabbana.

Fatto a Mano is Made by hand a look made up of ecru linen trousers and a dressing gown, the latter of which is enriched with striped detailing in printed silk crêpe. Embroidered red velvet mule slippers complete the ensemble.

The stickpin brooches featuring emeralds, black and colourless diamonds and other precious stones are the perfect representation of Alta Gioielleria.

The white gold “DG7 Gems full pavé” watch and the ring with diamonds enrich the look.

Alta Gioielleria means high gallery look includes a pink gold “Leonardo” watch and white gold cufflinks with blue sapphires and diamonds.

On its jacket, two gem-enriched stickpin brooches are pinned. Two yellow gold rings with rubies, diamonds and other jewels are also featured.

In the Alta Sartoria event, the model’s double-breasted, three-piece suit with peaked lapels in striped silk is embroidered with peonies. A light blue crêpe shirt and cream-coloured slippers enrich the look.

The Dolce&Gabbana’s Alta Sartoria ensemble is composed of a shirt and trousers in silk twill with nautical motifs.

The look is enhanced with a matching nautical-inspired scarf, a black clutch bag and a pair of #DGEyewear sunglasses.

Theatrical, beautiful and a celebration of Italian history, this was a journey through the house’s undisputed technical know-how, but also a showcase of the designers’ undimmed passion. Given their recent troubles, it was good to see the duo leave politics aside and get back to doing what they do best.
