Humans as objects.

As an artist I explore the subjects of: sexuality, food, politics, power, and identity. In my most recent body of work, “Dairy Queen”, I examine how we see and experience food and its relationship to the sexuality of the body through a series of oversized sculptures and performance photography. -Arturo Herrera (Artist).

Arturo Herrera is an artist working with notions of sexuality, food, politics, power, and identity. Herrera’s most recent project includes a work that examines how we see and experience food and its relationship to the sexuality of the body through a series of oversized sculptures and performance photography.

Herrera is currently working on an ongoing series of self portraits panorama photographs, currently on displayed at Art Research Group in London, England. Herrera also will be working on a new community engaged project in the Summer of 2014 for the migrant community in Leamington, called “Recipe Card Exchange” with Neighbourhood Spaces.

Previous work includes: The Daily Bread, with the participation of artist Carole Condé + Karl Beveridge a project developed in the city of Leamington, Ontario along the side migrant workers in the Summer of 2013.

Herrera’s work has been shown in festivals across North America; show.13 at the Cambridge Galleries in Cambridge, Ontario 2013, at the Nuit Blanche Toronto 2012-13, CONTACT Photography 2011, Winnetka Chicago Modernism Show, 2005.

Arturo Herrera was born in Honduras, Central America and he has lived in the United States and Canada, he currently lives in Windsor, Ontario. Herrera has received a BFA and is currently a candidate for the Master of Fine Arts Program at the University of Windsor.
