Louis Vuitton Mens Fall/Winter 2015 Paris

At Louis Vuitton designer Kim Jones produced a love letter of a menswear show. He tilted, dedicated and incorporated the artist Christopher Nemeth’s work into every inch of his fall/winter 2015 collection.

“I think Christopher Nemeth is the most important designer to come out of London alongside Vivienne Westwood,” said Jones in the opening sentence of the show notes for the collection.

The designer’s admiration wasn’t lightly dusted into his menswear; it permitted every aspect of it. Nemeth’s woven rope motif became the emblem of this show. It appeared as a jacquard on a camel peacoat. It was blown up to oversized proportions on pants and needle punched into a gray bathrobe coat. It also appeared head to toe as dots on denim and even on the dial of a Louis Vuitton wristwatch. Jones worked the bold design hard and kept his silhouettes clean and classic to accentuate Nemeth’s art.

As this is Louis Vuitton, there was also a panoply of covetable accessories to salivate over. High on the list for fashionistas, both male and female, will be the silver and horn safety pins that jangled on the chest of a number of the looks. Also a must-have — the heather gray shearling-covered trunk with the rope pattern laser cut into the fur.

It made for a striking show that once again underlined the fact that, four years into his role as the brand’s men’s artistic director, Jones is fully at ease in his ultra luxe surroundings. And he is converting more and more of us to his posh surroundings with each passing season.
