Well this is a very very good news, I didn’t expect this, we mentioned at Christopher Shannon Menswear fashion show at London Collection about this revolutionary sneakers, ’cause, particularly we focused in every detail at the collection, but when we saw this, we fell in love immediately. CAT Footwear and Christopher Shannon join forces to make this revolutionary sneakers. See below.

Iconic workwear brand Cat Footwear has teamed up with LCM favourite Christopher Shannon for a third season, to present a collection of five industrial inspired styles, reworked and modernised for 2016. The original silhouette was designed in 2000 by Cat Footwear for the rigours of tough working environments, and has since been in their collection for more than fifteen years. Shannon has reconstructed the shape with a twist adding athletic inspired fluoro accents, reflective piping and a futuristic use of leather and suede fabrics to support his full look for SS16.

This style has been in the collection for fifteen years and was an original “Walking Machine” first designed by Cat Footwear in 2000. For SS16, Christopher Shannon has re-worked this archived silhouette, modernising the authentic, industrial style and using on trend accents for SS16, while retaining the exaggerated urban shape. As with every core Cat Footwear style, standing firm since 1991, the boot’s sole is stamped “Walking Machines”, which is a testament to footwear that has never backed down from the challenges ahead. The Cat Footwear X Christopher Shannon collaboration sits within the “Walking Machines” ethos and structure.

Previously Shannon has worked with Cat Footwear on boot designs but for SS16 the collaboration results in a seasonally reflective footwear design, which takes the collaboration in a completely new direction whilst staying true the workwear heritage of the Cat Footwear brand. Available in five SKUs including two sandal styles and three shoes, the physical and technical aspects of this directional design include nods to sports footwear with futuristic, reflective webbing, lace pop and midsole, metal and colour pop detailing with all new updated upper materials and outsole colours. There are also new colour pop accents and hand cut details appearing throughout the five options including leather and suede materials, and reflective piping detail that references Cat Footwear’s safety boot heritage.

Speaking on re-working these vintage Cat Footwear styles and partnering once again with the 90s born footwear label, Shannon explained, “Following two successful seasons reworking the iconic ‘Colorado’ boot, it has been great to work with Cat Footwear once again to develop a sportier more athletic silhouette. Creating a shoe that identifies with Cat Footwear yet presents something unexpected, the nostalgic nineties inspired design combines a multi terrain sole from the Cat Footwear archives and muted colours with flashes of fluoro to echo the collection.”
