THE AWAKENING A WORK BY Stavros Christodoulou

For "The Awakening" I was inspired by a quote from Edgar Allan Poe: “From childhood's hour I have not been. As others were, I have not seen. As others saw, I could not awaken.

From Nicosia, Cyprus we have a beautiful work by  photographer Stavros Christodoulou, exposing for the very first time in Fashionably Male, we feel so proud to present something like this.

For “The Awakening” I was inspired by a quote from Edgar Allan Poe: “From childhood’s hour I have not been. As others were, I have not seen. As others saw, I could not awaken. My heart to joy at the same tone. And all I loved, I loved alone.”
This brought an intense feeling of solitude and despair. I wanted to portray the solitude with the images of a man, placed by himself in the surroundings of an abandoned house. The location was an additional representation of the despair and solitude, while the nudity was intentional as to not draw any attention into the fashion of the images. The white body painting, replicates the decay of the walls and is in contrast with the youthfulness and virility of the man’s body. – Stavros.
