PnV Network | Ross Lovell Interview shot Lalo Torres
Interview by Chris Chase @PnVMaleModelHQ
I love seeing people at the beginning of their careers. They are always so full of life and energy! Ross Lovell is no different. He has an amazing combination of enthusiasm and determination that will take him far no matter what he chooses to do. Ross was nice enough to sat down with me and give us some insight to what makes him tick.
Chris Chase: Hey Ross! Thanks so much for giving me your time. Let’s start with the basics. Give me a rundown.
Ross Lovell: I’m 6′.05, with brown hair, brown eyes, my birthday is August 21st, and my hometown is a tiny place in the middle of the national forest, Kennard, TX.
CC: Geez! I’m from Texas and I have no clue where Kennard is. Lol Who was your childhood hero?
RL: I grew up watching “Lois and Clark” on ABC as a little kid. I dreamed about being Dean Cain’s Superman character. And I think Terri Hatcher’s Lois was my first crush haha!
CC: We all love Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher. Perfect choice. How long have you been in the business?
RL: I signed with my first agency in 2013 but it was fairly short lived. I didn’t have a lot of success, in large part due to not being in very good shape, but in the past 8-9 months I started new fitness and meal plans from my friend Nic Palladino and have finally stared making progress. A friend saw a photo of me when I was about 19 and told me that I should pursue modeling. I had never seriously considered it, but after that it was all I could think about. I remember admiring Bruce Weber’s work at Abercrombie and dreaming of being one of those guys.
CC: That’s great! Plus, Nic Palladino does my fitness plans too. Go team NPF! Lol What are your long term aspirations?
RL: I try to live in the moment. I believe in having long term goals, but right now I am super focused on my short term goals and making my dreams come true. I can’t see more than about 5 years down the road right now, but I would say to become as successful as possible in the fashion industry and see where it goes from there.
CC: If you weren’t modeling what would you be doing?
RL: Possibly acting or something in the creative side of advertising, but modeling is where my heart and passion is at. Some people love painting, some creating beautiful music. This is my art. This is what gets me out of bed in the morning and keeps me awake at night. I can’t envision not achieving my goals and living out my dreams.
CC: If you can live out your dreams and make a mark you’re way ahead of the game. Tell me about your workout routine.
RL: Unfortunately I was never into fitness at a young age, so I am just now getting into it. Right now I’m doing chest and triceps one day, back and biceps the next, rest the 3rd day, legs the next day, shoulders the next, rest, and then finish out the week with arms. I usually put in 25 mins of stair master 4 times a week and 25 mins of sauna at least 5 times per week. I’m not where I want to be yet but I’m getting better every day. Every bit of progress I’ve made I owe to Nic Palladino. I couldn’t have done it without him. Anyone that needs help with fitness should definitely go to his website and check out his YouTube channel.
CC: Somehow this is morphing into an infomercial for Nic! Lol What is your perfect day?
RL: I LOVE sun, the beach, and traveling, so I would say a road trip with friends ending up on the beach by the end of the day.
CC: That sounds perfect to me. So when you get to cheat, what’s your favorite cheat meal?
RL: Bread and pasta all the way! I would kill for some soft, salty bread sticks and an Alfredo dipping sauce right now!
CC: CARBS. Dear God, yes! Tell me how you spend your spare time.
RL: Right now I am devoting most of my spare time to working out because I am obsessed with getting what I want, accomplishing my goals, and realizing my dreams. I may be a little too driven for my own good haha! But other than that I love going back to visit my friends and family, going out to movies(I’m a huge movie guy), going out to dinner, and shopping.
CC: Give me a rundown of your favorites.
RL: I’m obsessed with Scandal and enjoy The Big Bang Theory when I need to lighten my mood. Movies, too many to name, but any of the Marvel movies are awesome. Music, I’m actually pretty into gospel and Christian so Hillsong, Jesus Culture, BJ Putnam, Isreal Houghton, Eddie James, William McDowell, and so on. It helps keep me in a good head space. Sports, I have an apartment in College Station, walking distance from the stadium, so I love my Texas A&M Aggies!
CC: You know I went to TAMU? Just sayin. How would your friends describe you?
RL: Focused, driven, determined, kind, caring, loving, and generous. At least I hope they would anyway! Haha!
CC: There’s always that one friend that you gotta worry about though! Describe yourself in one word.
RL: Underdog. I’ve gotten a lot of “no”s in this business and come across a lot of people that have told me that I can do what I want to do. I understand that rejection is a big part of this business so I just take it and let it drive me to work even harder to prove them wrong and succeed.
CC: Also, determined. Who inspires you?
RL: Professionally, my friend Nic. He was one of the first models that I ever followed when I became interested in modeling and I always aspired to be like him. I ended up meeting him in March and I look up to him like a big brother even though I’m older. Haha! Personally? My parents and grandparents. They have all been through a lot of trying and difficult things but have always kept their faith.
CC: There’s nothing like having amazing people in your life to steer you in the right direction. In five years Ross…
RL: Will be living in NY modeling full time. That’s the goal anyway! Haha! Like I said, I take life one step at a time. I think it is easier to say what I want to accomplish in the next five years. I would say I have 3 firm goals. 1. Be signed in NY(with a particular agency that I have in mind) 2. Have shot an editorial for Adon Magazine 3. Have had the honor of working with the legendary Bruce Weber.
