Nautica Spring/Summer 2017 New York

By Jean E. Palmieri

The love affair between Nautica and the seafaring life continued to move ahead under men’s creative director Steve McSween. “This is the modern Riviera,” he said. “We’re imagining a tailored traveler and the balance between sport and leisure in his life.”

There was a hint of “The Talented Mr. Ripley” in a white stretch linen blazer, while Cary Grant’s style made an appearance in a cotton silk jersey shirt. The reintroduction of heritage pieces, such as a navy and white razor jacket and a stretch nylon anorak were among the highlights of the elevated offering.

McSween also collaborated with Seabags on an assortment of carryalls as well as one-of-a-kind outerwear pieces created from the company’s vintage sails.

“They’re one-offs, but they inspire the rest of the collection,” he said.

And by the way, Grant Woolhead styled today for Nautica Men’s Showroom.
