Nick Graham Spring/Summer 2017 New York

By Jean E. Palmieri

Nick Graham re-created the Tropicana Club in Havana, circa 1958 — one of the biggest trends of the spring season — complete with scantily clad dancing girls in thongs and headdresses and an ear-splitting live band. The theme worked well in Graham’s signature floral print shirts, allover plaid suits and paisley patterned shorts and jackets.

A few of the pieces were more subdued, including a cream-colored cotton suit and a three-piece model in crisp white. That offset camo bombers and paisley sarongs.

Graham said this collection, his third time showing at men’s fashion week, indicated an “evolution” for the brand. “We’re more tailored sportswear now,” he said. “What do guys wear to work anymore?”

While there wasn’t a lot that was revolutionary in the lineup, the party atmosphere proved Graham continues to move to his own beat.
