Dolce & Gabbana RTW Fall/Winter 2017 Milan

Dolce & Gabbana has been on a crusade to promote family values with its #DGFamily campaign for some time. And for Fall/Winter they staged a show in Milan that kicked the social media part of the campaign into overdrive. The result was one of their most emotional shows ever.

On the runway, the duo – known for their sexy Mediterranean designs – staged a show that included actors, millennials, Hollywood aristocrats, and socialites. Even a selection of journalists made an appearance on the catwalk, walking nervously down the runway not knowing whether to laugh or be serious.  Some waved shyly to their friends, while others played the model part and stared at an invisible dot in the distance as they sashayed towards an intimidating scrum of photographers.

There were a few moments when the crowd looked at each other perplexed, feeling ashamed for not knowing who these influencers were. Lady Kitty Spencer, Rafferty Law, son of Jude, and FT Journalist Jo Ellison, were among the UK “models”. YouTube star Marcus Butler and his girlfriend Stefanie Giesinger strutted down the runway in silvery evening ensembles holding hands, the embodiment of what digital stardom really looks like.

There were moms, dads, babies, grandmothers, as well as brothers and sisters.

Iconic models Pamela Anderson and Christie Brinkley sat proudly in the crowd snapping pictures of their children who stole the spotlight.

Super model Bianca Balti closed the runway show with a Baroque crown and a metallic leopard print dress. She later danced the night away with Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce, her curly ponytail bobbing up and down with joy as Dolce spun her around again and again and again. Gabbana was later spotted at the brand’s Dancing Queen party dancing away in a nun’s habit and wide rimmed glasses.

Following the show and party, fashion spectators applauded the duo’s all-inclusive efforts.  “It was nice to see that Dolce Gabbana can be worn by people of all shapes and sizes,” said one guest. “It really shows it’s for everyone.

Austin Mahone opens the show with a live performance.
