As the second-largest state in the U.S., Texas has no shortage of fun and exciting experiences to offer.

It has a number of different major cities, each offering something just a little bit different.
It also offers a wide, diverse range of conservation areas, state parks, and historic landmarks.
Whether you’re looking to experience a bit of American history first-hand, or you’re looking to get outside and experience a bit of the ‘great outdoors,’ Texas most definitely has something interesting for everyone.
So in this post, you’re going to learn about 8 fun activities to try in Texas today.
1. Visiting The Alamo
San Antonio is home to The Alamo, one of the most historic sites in The Lone Star State.
It’s a legendary landmark straight from American History, and you can still visit it and take part in that history today.
The best time to visit the Alamo is anytime from April to October.
For best results, go in April—before it gets too hot for the summer.

2. Big Bend National Park
Big Bend is a national park on the far west side of Texas. It’s a site that runs along the Rio Grande, and includes massive canyons, vast deserts, an ever-changing river, and forested mountains.
Hike Saint Elena Canyon, visit the hot springs, make the Ross Maxwell scenic drive, and even cross over the border into Mexico, via a ride on a horse, donkey, or vehicle, for a one-mile journey into the village of Boquillas Crossing.
It’s an interesting little village with plenty of restaurants and history to offer.
3. The Texas State Capitol In Austin
The Texas Capitol in Austin was built with extraordinary 18th-century public architecture.
It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, and has since come to be designated as a National Historic Landmark.

It’s also widely recognized as one of America’s most interesting and beautiful state capitols.
4. The Guadalupe Mountains National Park
If you’re interested in hiking, camping, or visiting the mountains, then Guadalupe National Park is most definitely the place to go.
You can see mountains, canyons, dunes, deserts, and spectacular vistas at this park. It also contains the world’s most extensive Permian fossil reef, and the four highest peaks in Texas.
5. Galveston Beach
Regardless of what you’re looking for in a beach (a good time with friends, a family-friendly vacation spot, natural outdoor recreation, etc.), Galveston Beach will have something to offer.
Galveston Island contains 32 glorious miles of coastline. Along this coastline, you’ll find a number of different beaches that’ll offer different amenities and beach-going experiences.
If you’re wanting to get away from the hustle of the city and enjoy beautiful, warm, sandy beaches, this is probably a location that you’ll thoroughly enjoy exploring.

Note: Some people love the idea of smoking their cannabis on the beach in Galveston. Just be aware that in Texas, you need a Medical Marijuana card to enjoy your ‘green’ legally!
Need help getting one? Veriheal maintains a web page where you can easily apply for a Texas Medical Marijuana Card right now.
6. Natural Bridge Caverns
Natural Bridge Caverns is a massive cave system that’s made up of illuminating passages and beautiful rock formations.
Discovered in 1960 by 4 college students, the cave is the largest known commercial cavern in the state of Texas. Its most famous feature is a 60ft natural limestone slab bridge that spans the amphitheater setting of the cavern’s entrance.
Open daily, this cave is located near San Antonio. The deepest part of the cave that’s available for public tour is 180 feet below the surface—though there are also areas beneath the ‘tour’ section that reach depths of up to 230 feet.
7. The USS Lexington Museum
The USS Lexington Museum, located on the Bay near Corpus Christi, is a retired World War 2 vintage aircraft carrier.

This aircraft carrier, commissioned in 1943, served the U.S. for longer than any other carrier in the history of naval aviation. It has also set more records than any other carrier in history.
It was decommissioned in 1991, and is now stationed near the bay and open for tours and special events.
8. The San Antonio River Walk
The San Antonio River Walk is said to be “The #1 attraction in Texas.”
Basically, this river walk allows you to stroll along the lush riverside paths of San Antonio. This path is lined with beautiful towering trees, as well as hotels, museums, shops, and other recreational spots.
