As London Fashion Week draws near, the historic Somerset House prepares to host the much-anticipated “The Lore of Loverboy” collection by designer Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY. This event not only celebrates the 10th anniversary of the iconic brand but also pays homage to the rich history and architectural beauty of Somerset House.

Built in the late 18th century, Somerset House has been a silent witness to the ever-changing landscape of British culture, politics, and fashion. Its grandeur and elegance have inspired countless artists, and this time, Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY channels that energy into his collection. The fashion show takes place in the courtyard, transforming the space into a mesmerizing fusion of history and modern queer expression.

The “Lore of Loverboy” collection reflects a distinctively British vibe while echoing the punk-esque influences of the late Vivienne Westwood. As models strut down the runway in banana-inspired prints and pyjama-like ensembles, the audience is treated to a visual feast of color and creativity. A Converse collaboration and subtle nods to Clash of Clans further emphasize the playful spirit of the collection.

Adding to the electric atmosphere, singer Beth Ditto serenades the crowd while Charles Jeffrey’s own choir provides an ethereal backdrop. The show becomes a spiritual experience, a testament to the power of art and fashion to uplift and inspire.

In an interview with MFF, Charles Jeffrey, the founder of Loverboy, expresses his desire to contribute to London’s resurgence as a “place to be” in the fashion world. This ambition is evident in the exhibition, which also showcases iconic pieces from the brand’s 10-year history alongside new creations.

From animalier hats and Warhol-inspired banana motifs to the blurring of lines between formal wear and loungewear, the collection pushes sartorial boundaries. Drape and deconstruction techniques emphasize the sense of transformation and fluidity that is at the heart of Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY’s vision.

As Pride 2024 kicks off, this celebration of fashion and queer culture reminds us of the importance of inclusivity and self-expression. “Pride 2024 in Sound: Blowing Up Somerset House with Loverboy’s Fabulous Fashion” is a fitting tribute to a brand that has consistently championed these values and an iconic venue that continues to serve as a canvas for artistic innovation.
