Vivienne Westwood Menswear SS26 – A Mediterranean Dandy Returns to Milan

For the first time since 2017, Vivienne Westwood presented a solo menswear collection, and what better setting than Milan, the eternal home of masculine elegance. With this landmark moment, Andreas Kronthaler, creative director and widower of the legendary Dame Vivienne Westwood, brought forward a renewed vision of timeless style—a Mediterranean-infused, English-born dandy of today.

Set in Bar Rivoli, just steps from San Babila and the brand’s own flagship boutique, the SS26 show felt intimate, curated, and deeply connected to the city’s fashion pulse. This location, once the soul of Fiorucci-era Milan, became the backdrop for a presentation rooted in cultural exchange and sunlit sophistication.

“‘This Spring-Summer is our first solo presentation of menswear since 2017 – and it’s great to be back in Milan, the home of menswear,” Kronthaler shared via Instagram.

The collection itself was a poetic homage to Mediterranean nonchalance and English refinement. Lightweight hemp suits floated through the venue in washed-out neutrals, paired with soft tweedscrisp striped cotton shirts, and delicately printed poplin. It was a wardrobe made for coastal strolls, train journeys, and long espresso afternoons—drenched in nostalgia but completely modern.

A standout feature: ink-drawn floral motifs by artist Dominic Myatt, scattered like whispers across shirting and tunics. There was a romance in the details—high waist trousers, suede vests, ruffled collars, and wide-brim hats—echoing the sensibility of the Grand Tour, reimagined for 2026.

“The timeless elegance of English tailoring and the raffinato non so che Milanese. When a man has style, it means so much. It has nothing to do with fashion, it’s about style,” Kronthaler added.

This wasn’t a trend-driven show. It was a lesson in style as identity—irreverent yet refined, playful yet tailored. For Kronthaler, clothing is storytelling, and this season, it spoke of cross-cultural admiration, the joy of dressing, and the enduring allure of Milanese chic.
