Malcolm Todd Does Denim His Own Way for GAP Fall 2026

“I like to trust my own instincts. I don’t overthink it.”

That attitude pretty much sums up Malcolm Todd — and makes him a perfect fit for Gap.

The singer-songwriter steps into denim for Gap’s Fall 2026 campaign, “Denim on Your Own,” bringing his naturally relaxed California energy to one of America’s most recognizable fashion staples.

There’s nothing particularly polished about Todd’s appeal, and that’s exactly why it works.

Denim, But Make It Malcolm

Malcolm Todd has developed a personal style that feels almost accidental: loose jeans, undone layers, natural hair, comfortable silhouettes and the occasional absence of a shirt altogether.

Speaking with GQ around the campaign, Todd described himself as a “messy man” and talked about his preference for comfort, loose-fitting clothes and Gap’s ’90s Loose jeans.

It’s an aesthetic that feels especially relevant right now.

After years of hyper-curated celebrity wardrobes and perfectly engineered social-media outfits, there’s something attractive about seeing someone simply wear the clothes instead of letting the clothes wear him.

“I like to trust my own instincts. I don’t overthink it.”

And Gap essentially gives him permission to do exactly that.

“Denim on Your Own”

Todd stars alongside actress Inde Navarrette in the Fall 2026 campaign, which centers individuality and personal expression through denim.

Directed by Tanu Muiño, the campaign places the pair against a minimalist white backdrop — immediately recalling the clean visual language that has defined some of Gap’s most memorable advertising.

But there’s a contemporary twist.

Music becomes part of the storytelling as Todd performs a reimagined version of Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own.” Instead of turning the campaign into an enormous fashion spectacle, the stripped-back environment keeps the attention on movement, personality and, naturally, denim.

It feels deliberately uncomplicated.

Two young creatives. A white studio. Denim. Music.

That’s it.

And sometimes that is exactly what Gap does best.

The Return of Relaxed American Style

Todd’s presence also makes sense within Gap’s current return to relaxed denim.

The brand has spent much of 2026 revisiting its archive and the easy proportions associated with the late ’80s and ’90s. Baggy jeans, low rises, loose silhouettes and uncomplicated American basics have once again become central to the Gap vocabulary.

Malcolm already dresses like he belongs inside that world.

There is a youthful sexiness to the campaign that doesn’t require him to look overly groomed or manufactured. His tousled hair, lanky proportions and loose denim create the kind of effortless male image fashion has always tried — sometimes too hard — to manufacture.

Here, it feels believable.

Malcolm Todd Is Having a Moment

The campaign arrives as Todd’s profile continues to rise beyond music.

Following his appearance at Outside Lands in San Francisco on August 8, the musician is preparing to take his music on the road with his Do That Again Tour, beginning in September.

Gap therefore isn’t simply casting an established celebrity.

It’s capturing an artist during that interesting moment when a musician’s personal image begins becoming part of the wider fashion conversation.

And Malcolm Todd has an image worth watching.

Relaxed. Slightly disheveled. Instinctive. Sexy without apparently trying to be sexy.

For Fall 2026, Gap calls it Denim on Your Own.

Malcolm Todd might simply call it getting dressed.
