Sometimes, the look of the fashion season doesn’t emerge till the season actually arrives. All this week, all over menswear week, one particular garment has been impossible to miss — the bold black-and-white striped Ashmore overcoat that anchored Casely-Hayford‘s AW14 collection. It’s been on the backs of bloggers, editors, celebrities and stylists, an eloquent illustration of that show’s dramatic impact.
There was much more to that collection, of course; charred wood prints, broken layers, hybrid outerwear, staggered proportions. But the money shot, whether as an Instagram snap or a glossy editorial shoot, inevitably revolved around those startling monochrome bands.
