Dirk Bikkembergs Spring/Summer 2016 Milan

Today starts Milan Fashion Week, obviously we’re gonna post all about it. First is Dirk Bikkembergs’ Spring/Summer 2016 man is on a quest for balance and overall self-renewal.

Set in the gardens of Terme Milano, Bikkembergs’ “sport couture” collection possessed references to the zen gardens of the Orient.

Bamboo prints were plastered onto foulards, pocket squares, and jacquard tuxedo jackets that were paired with the tight men’s swimming trunks that Bikkembergs’ muscular models show off so well.

Mesh cotton weave techniques were patterned into asymmetrical summer jackets. Synthetic and transparent waterproof materials were used for similar coats, injecting a hint of what Bikkembergs does best: urban sportswear.

Fit for a man who has no qualms about showing off his six pack all day long, the lineup underscored the physical traits of strength and physicality through black leather arm sleeves that could be considered warrior attire or fetish clothing.

Torn between his pure and fighting self, the Bikkembegrs man saw his sins and his tormented soul washed anew, when at the end of the show, bare-chested models in red trunks emerged from the hot tub – the sort of theatrical relief that makes you just want to dive right in.
