Derek: I started shooting freelance at 24 from offers form photographers interested in shooting with me. Namely Rob Kristian.
What kind of previous jobs and/or education have you done that you would like to share?
Derek: I work as a Parts Coordinator for the Facility Support group for Quiktrip; I have been with the company for 9 years. Little education back ground in business but no degree.
Later in life, what are your career aspirations?
Derek: I wish to become a personal trainer and have a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.
How often do you workout? What is your philosophy on diet & exercise?
Derek: I workout 6 days a week but I am active 7 days a week. I believe if you can eat 80% clean and maintain an active lifestyle (being active 3-5 days a week for an hour) that is a healthy well rounded life.
What is your biggest vice in life? What are your favorite sin foods?
Derek: My biggest vice would be occasionally attending EDM shows and partying like I’m 21 again. Favorite sin foods would have to be pizza or anything Mexican and Italian.
What physical aspect do you think most people mention first as being attractive about you? What is one thing about your body you most wish you could change?
Derek: I think what gets the most attention is my smile and the fact I only have one dimple. If I could change anything it would be my height or the fact that I carry all my water in my waist.
What has been the highlight of your career thus far?
Derek: I would not call it a career yet so I am waiting for highlights still but work with a select few really awesome and genuine photographers is a great feeling to start with!
How would you describe your personality in 3 words?
Derek: Weirdly witty sarcasm.
There are many stereotypes about the personalities of male models. Name one that you find to be mostly false & one that is actually mostly true in your experiences.
Derek: People believe they are very confident being but I believe they carry the same insecurities as other people. That being said most still air on the side of cocky, but it seems to all be a part of the show.
