A few months ago I stumbled upon the Instagram of Alex Sewall. The very first thing that struck me was his smile. I can only describe it as a billion dollar smile! During the past few months I’ve gotten to know Alex and I thought I’d share our initial interview. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with talented photographer, Adam Raphael, who has given me these brilliant exclusive images! Enjoy!

Chris Chase: Hey Alex! Thanks for taking the time for this interview. Let’s start off with your basics stats.

CC: Too bad there’s not a category for megawatt smile! Who did you look up to growing up?

AS-I always looked up to my parents growing up, they both did a great job of raising my siblings and I and were always there for us. Being an athlete my whole life also, I really looked up to Kobe Bryant. I just have the utmost respect for him as an athlete and how he approaches his craft and the dedication to excellence he has had his whole career.

CC: Kobe kept that dedication all the way to the end going out with 60 points in his final game. How long have you been in the business?

AS-I’ve been modeling for about 2.5 years. It’s always been something I had wanted to pursue after my football career, so I gave it a shot and want to see how far and where it takes me. I just love how a photographer and a model can create such beautiful images together that can capture a whole range of emotions.

CC: I’m sure you were an amazing football player but I’m glad you’re modeling! What are your long term aspirations?

AS-My long term aspirations are to continue modeling and building on what I have accomplished so far. I also plan to get into acting and really hone that craft so I can be able to do well in that field as well. I’d also love to start my own business down the road, I have a lot of ideas for different things so it is just about deciding which way I want to go with things.

CC: I can image you’d be successful in anything you do. If you weren’t modeling what would you be doing?

AS-If I wasn’t modeling I would most likely be coaching football at the collegiate level. Football has been such a big part of my life, and I just love the camaraderie and passion for the game that is so apparent at the college level.

CC: Sports were a big part of my life too and the passion never leaves even if the ability does. Tell me about your workout routine.

AS-My workout routine has changed and evolved so much over the years depending what my goals and motives are. Currently I workout doing something every day. I typically will lift 6 days a week and do cardio before my lifts. I shoot to burn about 800-1000 calories doing cardio before I lift. Then I’ll usually lift chest/back on Monday, legs on Tuesday, and arms/shoulders on Wednesday. Then start back over. I do abs about 3-4 times per week also.

CC: What is a perfect day for Alex Sewall?

AS-A perfect day for me would be waking up early and getting a really good workout in. Then going back home and having a really nice brunch with my family. Then during the day just walking around the city and people watching/shopping/being with friends. Then at night having a great dinner with friends and going out and having some drinks and fun.

CC: Very important question here. What is you’re favorite cheat food?

AS-My favorite cheat food would have to either be pizza or a really good burger with fries.

CC: There’s nothing like an amazing burger! What do you like to do in your spare time?

AS-In my spare time I like to workout, listen to music, hang out with friends, read, and I am a Netflix junkie!

CC: Give me all your favorites.

AS-My favorite TV shows recently have been White Collar, Spartacus, Sons of Anarchy, and How I Met Your Mother. My two favorite movies of all time are Fight Club and Remember the Titans. My favorite kind of music is hip hop. Eminem is my favorite artist to listen to. I really love all sports, my favorites would have to be football, basketball, and hockey though. My favorite sports teams are the Indiana State Sycamores, the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

CC: if I ask your friends to describe you what would they say?

AS -My friends would say that I am loyal, passionate, smart, hard working, and funny.

CC: What’s one word that describes you?

AS-One word to describe me is passionate. I think this word sums me up best, because I have very strong beliefs and I strive to be the best that I can be in everything I do. I love the quote, “Do it with passion, or not at all”. Life is about building relationships and loving what you do, and the only way to truly love what you do is to be passionate about it.

CC: Being a passionate person means that there are things that inspire you. What inspires Alex?

AS-I find inspiration all over the place. People I have mentioned before inspire me, such as my parents and my idols. People I see doing a random act of kindness on the street inspire me also to be a better person and to do something good for someone. I inspire myself too, because I know what I want and what I need to do to get there. I think everybody should be inspired by others and strive to inspire others.

CC: Where do you see yourself in five years?

AS-In 5 years, I would love to have accomplished many more things within the modeling industry and landed more campaigns and also to have been started in the acting world and have built up a solid resume there as well. In 5 years my main goal is to be happy and to continue doing what I love to do, and to try to inspire others and be a positive impact on the world.

CC: Tell me something about yourself that few people know.

AS-Few people know that I enjoy writing. I write music/poetry a lot. It is a great way to get out my pain or frustrations when I am going through tough times.

Alex, thank you so much for your time. The great thing about these interviews is that I don’t learn I have a lot in common with some people including yourself! I expect nothing but big things from Alex in the future.
