General Idea Spring/Summer 2017 New York

By Frederick Marfil

General Idea lightened things up this season, but the brand’s propensity for playing with proportions continued.

Designer Bumsuk Choi presented a lineup of elongated shirts and oversized outerwear and flight suits. But he moved away from the dark palette that is a hallmark of the brand, switching it up with tempered hues of beige, pink and aqua-green.

Highlights included a metallic oversized bomber with a long black button-down paired with chino khakis, and a nylon black patch-pocket flight suit.

The collection felt more wearable as Choi moved toward a more colorful future.
