The Met Gala 2017 has arrived! On the first Monday in May, the Met Gala red carpet is one of the most-watched fashion events of the year and, this year, celebrates the opening of the Costume Institute’s exhibition, “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.” Katy Perry is our cohost and cochair this evening, having recently tried out several of Kawakubo’s most outrageous Comme des Garçons designs for the May issue of Vogue. Follow along to see Perry and all of the best-dressed celebrities as they make their way up the 150-foot-long red carpet and into the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Temple of Dendur for the party of the year. The attire calls for avant-garde black tie, and the guests are sure to shine big, bold, and bright tonight.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there—the gala also signifies the highly anticipated grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition. This year, we honor Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo with an exhibition entitled “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.”
