Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY Spring/Summer 2019 London

Celebrating the creative diversity in London today with Charles Jeffrey “Loverboy” in the British Fashion Council Show Space at 180 The Strand in London.

Charles Jeffrey “LOVERBOY” exhaled from MAN, is the joint initiative between Topman and Fashion East (the non-profit organisation established by Lulu Kennedy MBE and the Old Truman Brewery in 2000).

Now LOVERBOY brings his own joy to London Fashion Week: Men’s with a extravaganza theatre extravaganza parade. The wonderful world of LOVERBOY is full of fantasy, genderless creatures, sissy characters, authority figures celebrating the queerness we have inside of us.

“LOVERBOY” quoted a yellow sweatshirt with a long skeleton printed in black, you can see paradoxical artsy shorts, like every model has its own story-teller, like artsy painting and headpieces from Leo Carlton.

Charles Jeffrey inspires himself from arts, theatre, films, famous painters like those of its subcultural ancestors (think Taboo, the Batcave, Blitz), which saw gangs of outrageously dressed eccentrics descend on to the streets of London, LOVERBOY’s origins were DIY – an empty slot at Vogue Fabrics, some handmade, giant hearts and pictures printed off the internet and stuck up haphazardly on the walls.

Made in Britain, this is the finale of a good –but short– London Fashion Week Men’s exhibition. The shortlist for fashion’s most prestigious International prize is dominated by a buzzy wave of London-based designers.
