Men’s Fashion Basics: What to Wear and What Not to Wear at the Roller Rink

Roller skating is an activity that’s fun for people of all ages, and it’s likely that, if you live in a populated area, there’s a roller rink close by.

If you’ve never skated before, though, or haven’t since you were a kid, it’s a good idea to do some research into what to wear. Not only do you want to ensure you’re comfortable, but you also want to ensure your skin is protected in case you fall. There are recommended roller skates for men that are made to be comfy, durable, and fashionable at the same time. Pick a pair that suits your personality and easier for you to use.

Below are the fashion basics you’ll need:

Comfortable Clothes

Comfortable clothes are key when you’re roller skating, but this doesn’t mean you have to head out in a pair of jogging pants.  A pair of non-skinny jeans and a t-shirt is usually more than suitable, and will keep you looking stylish as well.

Avoid wearing clothing that’s too tight as it will make it hard to skate correctly; instead choose a pair of bottoms that gives you free ease of movement.  Shorts are another good choice if you can find a pair that works.  Chinos in a nice khaki color are an especially good choice.

Thick Socks

The next thing you’ll want to invest in is a pair of thick socks that go over your ankles; you could even purchase a pair of knee-high socks if you want to look like the skaters from the past (although this isn’t mandatory).  If you rent a pair of roller skates, you will have to make do with the sizes available at the roller rink.

Thick socks will help prevent your feet from getting blisters, and keep them comfortable for the time you skate.

A Good Pair of Roller Skates

If you plan on visiting the roller rink on a regular basis, it’s a good idea to invest in your own pair of roller skates.  Riedell can help you find the best roller skates for men that suit your needs, and they have tons of different options so you can find a pair that both suits you and that looks stylish with the clothes you wear.  Their ombre skates are an especially popular choice, but you’ll find everything from rhythm skates to jam skates on their website.

Protective Gear

Finally, it’s also a good idea to wear some protective gear, especially if you’re new to roller skating.  Don’t think this looks uncool, as like every other aspect of your outfit it can be customized to fit your personal style.  At the very least, you’ll want to invest in a helmet, and some knee and elbow pads as these will protect you from heavy falls.  Again, this is something that can often be rented from the rink, but most people prefer to buy their own.

A good quality leather bomber jacket nature provides an extra layer of protection while roller skating, shielding you from potential scrapes and bruises, further increasing safety. Not only does it provide protection but combines seamless style and functionality. It adds a touch of retro flair to the roller-skating experience. The jacket itself is beneficial for a chilly environment as its insulation properties act like a windbreaker, protecting you from cold air and providing you a warm and cozy experience.

Roller skating can be a fun way to spend an afternoon with your friends, and also a great way to get some exercise and improve your fitness.  Plus, there’s no need to sacrifice your style when on the rink!
