Bally Spring 2025: Whimsy Meets Rigorous Design in Simone Bellotti’s Romantic Collection

Simone Bellotti’s latest collection for Bally, presented at the iconic 16th-century cloisters of San Simpliciano in Milan, fused the brand’s signature rigor with a playful and romantic touch. Bellotti, in his third collection for Bally, continues to refine the brand’s sculptural silhouettes, adding an irreverent twist to classic tailoring.

Inspired by German poet and Dadaist Hugo Ball, Bellotti reworked the cocooning, operatic volumes seen in Ball’s iconic steel habit. This influence shaped oversized leather jackets and rounded-sleeve shirts, giving the collection a whimsical flair while maintaining a refined aesthetic. The show’s romantic notes shone through in gossamer dresses adorned with floral motifs and cashmere knits printed with soft, faded roses, reflecting the flora of the Alps.

Bellotti’s creative exploration of natural elements such as mushrooms and rocks was reimagined in abstract designs reminiscent of Man Ray’s surrealist art. Belt buckles and handbag straps, inspired by antique shoe horns, added a vintage touch, while knit textures evoked the ruggedness of mountains.

Bellotti also embraced Bally’s Swiss heritage, incorporating cowbell-inspired metallic details into skirts, bags, and accessories. Trapeze doctor’s bags in alpine florals with topstitched finishes, alongside ruffled petal-like skirts, highlighted the designer’s intricate craftsmanship. Footwear featured new designs such as the slim-heeled Glendale and lace-up Scribe, as well as studded derbies and punk-inspired spiked sandals.

Despite Bally’s recent acquisition by an affiliate of Regent, Bellotti’s vision for the brand remains clear and unshaken. His Spring 2025 collection successfully balanced Bally’s storied heritage with an evolving, forward-thinking approach that was both playful and sophisticated, leaving a lasting impression on the Milan Fashion Week crowd.
