For Spring/Summer 2026, @yohjiyamamotoofficial lets the clothes do the talking — literally.

In a revival of one of his most impactful signatures, the designer employs garments as mediums for protest, poetry, and subdued appeals. Compelling phrases such as “No More Wars,” “Stand by Me,” and “Kill Me Softly” are inscribed across elegant silhouettes, conveying messages that resonate on both personal and universal levels.

Yamamoto also draws upon poetic memory, referencing Stéphane Mallarmé’s iconic French verse “Le vierge, le vivace et le bel aujourd’hui,” thereby adding a layer of romantic melancholy to the collection. This approach is not novel for Yohji, as he has long utilized fashion as a medium for expression, embedding his convictions and reflections into the very seams of his designs. With SS26, he transcends mere garment presentation — he conveys a message through them.

Powerful and abstract statements adorned the stained glass-like draped tunics, including “NO MORE WARS,” “OCEAN DISAPPEARS MAKES HUMANS FINISHED,” and “NUCLEAR POWER DISASTERS,” reflecting the designer’s intent to convey critical societal messages in his Spring/Summer 2026 collection.

Yamamoto’s SS26 promises an evolution of his signature meditative, avant-garde philosophy—blending technical prowess, emotional narrative, and unconventional elegance. For those anticipating darkly poetic menswear with quiet sophistication, this collection is one to watch.
