Armani: the fascinating charm of the world of Giorgio Armani. Using this concept as a starting point, the designer sketched out his Spring/Summer collection.

Showing us he has a good old-fashioned sense of humour and knows how to poke a bit of fun at himself – or celebrate himself, or both – Giorgio Armani sent out a winner of a T-shirt among his Spring/Summer 2017 collection today: a black and white smiling portrait of himself, worn with a loose and light jacket as per the rest of the collection. It was fun and funny and deserved the on-cue clapping it so got. Because this was the piece!

Habitually, Giorgio Armani takes his runway bows in Milan sporting navy—a sweater or a T-shirt. The hue was the linchpin of his Fall 2016 collection, as it has underpinned his career and the wardrobe of the Armani man. Why? Because navy is classic, unobtrusive, and universally appealing, all timeless hallmarks of the Armani aesthetic.

It was a season awash with fluidity, slouchy silhouettes, and plays on volume — and nobody does it better than Milan’s emperor of soft, Giorgio Armani. He seized the moment with gusto, sending out a polished collection in a powdery palette of dusty blue, peppermint leaf and lavender.
