aMarCortese is a new brand of bags and accessories inspired by sea routes of nineteenth century and by the romantic myth of globetrotter sailor, sailing port to port, carrying his sack and his loves. “My Ditty Mariner essential bag” is the progressive enumerated “dog tag” that protects the authenticity of the bag and it is also the reverse acronym of the designer society MDM, which created “aMarCortese”. A “transformer” bag, with different filling solutions, voyage mate for itinerant horizons, that can be a messenger, a backpack, a handbag, a sailor sack and also a shoulder bag (using a foulard). It’s completely made by genuine sheepskin leather (vegetable-tanned technique), at the moment the colours are dark brown, cognac, sand, navy blue and sky blue; the inside is extractable, made using pure linen as sails of the historical navy, and hand-painted according to the ancient technique in Romagna (Adriatic Coast in Italy). It has been used cut-up technique “to share the exploration map” that has been painted on the linen tissue “to sail together”. The exploration map is an abstract representation of a mattang, that was a sort of old sailing map of ancient Polynesians, made by shells, coral and leaves of coco palm. The external buckles are small sculptures of solid bronze (lost wax method) and represent the real distinguishing features of the brand: in “Pequod” collection, the locks are an anchor and the old talisman eyes painted on the ancient ship bows, instead in “les Fleurs” collection are used a siren and sea waves sculptures. The shoulder strap buckles are an homage to the sun, the waxing moon and albatross myth. In the end, the hot punch stamp mark and an oneiric poem lasered on the leather complete the bag. Bags today are essential to the male wardrobe, so today I want to share this new brand launched a few days ago on the Italian market. It’s called aMarCortese and the first time I saw the bags with their maritime details, was with the famous stylist and fashionista Stefano Guerrini in his IG account. For that I had the audacity to ask for these bags and Stefano gave me details of the Italian brand. And here we have the official campaign of the brand.
