Derek talks about how he got into modeling, photographers he aspires to work with and how he stays in such great shape. Enjoy!

  2. Eye Color/Hair Color: Hazel/Dirty Blonde
  3. Age: 25
  4. Hometown: Chandler, AZ
  5. Current City of Residence: Tempe, AZ
  6. Any pet…type…name? Yellow Lab, Tytan.

At what age did you start modeling and why/how did you come to choose modeling?

Derek: I started shooting freelance at 24 from offers form photographers interested in shooting with me. Namely Rob Kristian.

What kind of previous jobs and/or education have you done that you would like to share?

Derek: I work as a Parts Coordinator for the Facility Support group for Quiktrip; I have been with the company for 9 years. Little education back ground in business but no degree.

Derek: I wish to become a personal trainer and have a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.

How often do you workout? What is your philosophy on diet & exercise?

Derek: I workout 6 days a week but I am active 7 days a week. I believe if you can eat 80% clean and maintain an active lifestyle (being active 3-5 days a week for an hour) that is a healthy well rounded life.

Derek: My biggest vice would be occasionally attending EDM shows and partying like I’m 21 again. Favorite sin foods would have to be pizza or anything Mexican and Italian.

What physical aspect do you think most people mention first as being attractive about you?   What is one thing about your body you most wish you could change?

Derek: I think what gets the most attention is my smile and the fact I only have one dimple. If I could change anything it would be my height or the fact that I carry all my water in my waist.

Derek: I would not call it a career yet so I am waiting for highlights still but work with a select few really awesome and genuine photographers is a great feeling to start with!

How would you describe your personality in 3 words?

Derek: Weirdly witty sarcasm.

Derek Arellano Interview (3)There are many stereotypes about the personalities of male models.  Name one that you find to be mostly false & one that is actually mostly true in your experiences.

Derek: People believe they are very confident being but I believe they carry the same insecurities as other people. That being said most still air on the side of cocky, but it seems to all be a part of the show.

Derek: Boxers.

When you leave the house, how often do you opt to go commando?

Derek: Never.

Derek: It’s all about attitude and comfortability. If you are not in a good mood or comfortable it all translates.

Derek: Michael Anthony Downs, Luis Rafael, Jorge Freire, and Pat Lee.

What’s next for Derek Arellano?

Derek: For now I will continue to compete in Men’s Physique competitions and hopefully watch my career take off from there as an athlete, as a trainer and even as a model!
