With an appealing mix of streetwear and ethnic references, Istanbul-based Bunyamin Aydin traveled to the Sahara for spring, incorporating Tuareg and North African designs and inspirations into his collection, for which he staged a Paris presentation for the first time.
The zebra pattern was given an up-to-date spin on denim harem shorts — a new shape repeated throughout the collection — and matching jacket, while a traditional carpet pattern was a surprising addition on the back of a simple white bomber jacket. Traditional face painting was another dominant print, mixed with zebra stripes in black and white on the sleeves of a leather perfecto, for example, while a gauzy printed rain jacket evoked the swirling colors of the desert for an urban setting.
