Specific standards of beauty/attractiveness are likely to be different around the world, but there are some things that are, to a lesser or greater extent, considered universally desirable.
Facial characteristics can indicate a competent immune system, but they can also indicate something about how likely a man is to care for his kids. A masculine face is often considered attractive but it is also associated with a lower willingness to provide your children with parental care.
