Bill Gates Could Afford to Buy His $60 Casio Watch 1.6 Billion Times

Not long ago, Bill Gates was recognized as the richest person on the planet. While Amazon tycoon Jeff Bezos may have surpassed the Microsoft man, it is fair to say he still has a fair amount of money.

Recent statistics suggest Gates is worth an astronomical $108 billion. With a bank balance at this level, there’s virtually nothing he cannot afford. To put it into perspective, he possesses more money than the majority of countries.

Yet despite this wealth, Gates doesn’t like to flash his cash – at least in terms of his wristwear. His brand of choice is Casio, which isn’t exactly revered by watch enthusiasts in the same way as luxury brands like Rolex and Omega.

Why Casio?

So why does Bill Gates remain loyal to the Casio brand? By using research from Online Casino Betway, it’s time to take a closer look at this surprising fact. One explanation could be that the watch, at least in the 1970s and ’80s, was ahead of the game in terms of technological features. Considering Gate’s background with computers, it makes sense he’d have some affiliation with Casio.

In addition, Casio watches are known for being built with quality and boasting appealing designs. Yet despite having these advantages, Casio’s are also known for their affordability. Even people on the tightest of budgets can afford to sport a Casio, with the classic digital watch design starting at less than $20

As for Mr. Gates, his taste in wristwatches is a little pricier than $20. He was recently seen wearing a Casio Duro, which will set you back about $66. That’s right: pretty much anyone can buy the same watch as a multibillionaire.

A closer look at the numbers

With a watch that costs less than $70, it’s an understatement to say Gates’ purchase of his Casio Duro didn’t put a dent in his net worth. To highlight this in the most emphatic of ways, research suggests Gates earns about $127 every second.

To put it another way, Betway calculated that Gates could, in theory, purchase over 1.6 billion Casio Duro watches. That means he could give every person in Europe and the United States a complimentary watch, and still have about 500 million looks to spare.

Gates isn’t the only billionaire that remains relatively modest with their timepieces. The aforementioned Bezos, the king of wealth right now, wears a Ulysse Nardin Dual Time. While this luxury watch is miles ahead of anything Casio has to offer; the $12,300 it costs is chump change to Bezos. He could purchase the watch a further 11.5 million times.

Jes Staley, the CEO of Barclays, is in the same boat. Even though he is worth more than $2 billion, he sticks with a Panerai Luminor Marina which is a little under $4,500. This means there are people out there who earn an average living wage who have a more expensive watch than billionaires!
