“I definitely don’t hold back on this project,” assures David Hernandez. “I am more sensual and explicit, lyrically and visually, than I’ve ever been before.”  Singles on the EP include “Vices,” about the toxicity he encountered when he first found fame in his twenties and “Don’t @ Me,” chronicling the worldwide shaming he received on American Idol, where he is in his life today and how music fans can either love him or leave him.   In “Special,” David sings about trying to reach climax at the same time as his partner.  But it’s in the book of nude photos, shot by Noel Photo Studios, where David fully embraces his new found freedom of expression.  “If you would have asked me two years ago about releasing a book like this, I would’ve said ‘hell no!,’ he laughs. “But now, I’m fearless. This is who I’ve always been.  I just didn’t give myself permission to be me because I was always told not to.”  David Hernandez’s book, “NSFW” is being distributed independently and will be sold through his website. The EP will be available March 11th on Apple Music, Spotify, Tik Tok, Amazon, and all other major e-music retailers.

“I have grown so much in the last several years,” David Hernandez reflects from his LA home.  “I have learned to embrace myself my sexuality more than ever.  So many things that bothered me about myself physically and mentally, I have let go of or continue to work on.  I’ll never be perfect and will always have the flaws that people love to remind me of in in the YouTube comments but the difference now is: I don’t care.”

It is the reason he titled his EP, “Don’t @ Me.”   It is meant as a message to online haters that if they have nothing constructive to say, they should scroll on.  “So many people have become huge keyboard warriors.  They don’t realize how hurtful their words can be.”
Hernandez has had to deal with online criticism since he was 24, competing on American Idol.  “When Perez Hilton outed me, I went through a major depression,” he remembers.  It was then compounded when Access Hollywood, Fox News and multiple major news sources revealed his stripper past.   “Just when I had this big, once in a lifetime, opportunity based off of my God-given talent, the only thing the media and critics could focus on was my being gay and a former dancer.”

His public shaming would cost him the competition.  People weren’t ready for a gay former stripper to take the Idol crown.  “The following week after the news broke, Ryan Seacrest said I was eliminated because America didn’t give me enough votes. I cried like a baby backstage. I mean, I was just a kid.”

The goal for his nude photo shoot was simply David trying to love himself again.  He was nervous to disrobe but the photographer took it slowly, photographing different looks and angles, before eventually moving on to full nudity.
“I felt liberated and it became fun exploring that part of myself,” David Hernandez explains.  Noel showed David a few of the images on the camera and David was taken aback.  “I had never seen myself in that way.   After years of trying to be the person the world has told me I should be, I’ve lost sight of who the real David Hernandez is.   Seeing myself naked was like seeing myself through the lens of someone else but finally in a positive light.”

David Hernandez began singing at age six, starring in musicals and performing with various theatre companies. At fifteen, he started writing original music and recording his arrangements.  In addition to American Idol, he has showcased his talents on The Ellen ShowThe Today Show, MTV’s TRLEXTRAEntertainment Tonight, Access HollywoodTeen Choice Awards, Idol Tonight, FOX-TV’s Idol Gives Back.  He was named among TV Guides’ Sexiest Stars and opened for John Legend at President Barack Obama’s Inauguration.

He has released two full-length albums, 2011’s I Am Who I Am and most recently, KINGDOM: THE MIXTAPE, an album that included twenty original tracks, many of which reflected on the love and loss he experienced since rising to fame on American Idol. David is continuing his nude artistic journey on OnlyFans, releasing beautifully crafted, artistic nude photography to fans.  I’m stoked to share this part of myself and I hope fans enjoy it too.”
