Iceberg has served as a versatile platform for a diverse array of designers throughout its nearly 50-year existence. Over the years, this brand has been associated with various artistic and edgy interpretations, embodying its rich heritage.

James Long, the British designer who assumed the position more than eight years ago, has been crafting his unique interpretation, infusing his passion for the fusion of sports-inspired fashion and raver aesthetics. More recently, he appears to be further amplifying his emphasis on the latter.

In line with the previous season’s atmosphere, the designer made allusions to past advertising campaigns, specifically harking back to a 2010 campaign shot by renowned photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The campaign featured Carolyn Murphy elegantly adorned in a snakeskin-print dress, complete with conveniently placed front pockets.

The appearance influenced Long’s edgy spring collection, which primarily focused on the biker jacket fabricated in simulated snakeskin and synthetic leather.

It was cleverly incorporated into harnesses layered over immaculate shirts, skillfully patched into overcoats featuring mixed-media panels, and reimagined as full-skirted trench coats adorned with python detailing.

These statement pieces were accompanied by modest miniskirts, streamlined faux leather pants embellished with strategically placed zippers, and daring crisscross tops that left little to the imagination.

As the coed exhibition progressed, Long demonstrated a remarkable ability to combine disparate materials, which found its fullest expression in more subdued designs.

Polished utilitarian shirts were expertly paired with understated poplin trousers, while cargo-inspired long skirts and cropped tank tops, along with jumpsuits worn alongside delicate bralettes, offered a refreshing contrast.

The collection also featured refined tuxedo-inspired mixed-media overcoats and suits, occasionally worn by men in combination with pleated kilt-like faux leather skirts.

The presentation, which also signaled the introduction of Iceberg’s newest fragrance “Be Wonderfully You,” called for a considerable amount of self-assurance.

Everything has edge for ICEBERG this Spring/Summer 24. Silhouettes are slashed, swimwear shows skin, bikers give high octane attitude: it’s pure ICEBERG, always reborn.

“This is the true spirit of Iceberg today: fun, full-on, confident, strong. Snakeskin is about a life of constant transformation, of never stopping and always looking ahead. These are pieces to throw on, enjoy wearing, and dance in till dawn.”

says James Long, creative director of ICEBERG.
