Who’s Ryan Reynolds?

Ryan Rodney Reynolds (born October 23, 1976)[1] is a Canadian television and film actor. He is best known for his roles in comedy and romantic films such as National Lampoon’s Van Wilder, Waiting…, Just Friends, Definitely Maybe, and The Proposal as well as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. For television, he is best known for his role as Michael “Berg” Bergen on Two Guys and a Girl. Reynolds also stars in the upcoming DC superhero film Green Lantern alongside Blake Lively and Mark Strong.

Reynolds was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to James (a retired Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman who later became a food wholesaler) and Tammy Reynolds (a retail salesperson).[1] He is of Irish ancestry and was raised Roman Catholic.[2] The youngest of four brothers,[3] he graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School in Vancouver in 1994. He then attended Kwantlen College, also in Vancouver, until dropping out.

In 2002, Reynolds began dating Canadian singer Alanis Morissette. The two announced their engagement in June 2004.[15] In February 2007, representatives for Morissette and Reynolds announced that they had mutually decided to end their engagement.[16] Morissette’s album Flavors of Entanglement was created out of her grief after the breakup.[17]

Soon after the end of his relationship with Morissette, Reynolds began dating actress Scarlett Johansson in 2007[18] and the couple announced their engagement on May 5, 2008.[19] They married on September 27, 2008, in a quiet ceremony near Tofino, British Columbia.[20] On December 14, 2010, Reynolds and Johansson announced that they had separated and plan to divorce, saying in a joint statement, “After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage…We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it.”[21]
