Michele Morrone Opens Up in Vanity Fair Italia’s New Cover Story

Michele Morrone takes center stage in the latest issue of Vanity Fair Italia, revealing the person behind the confidence, international fame, and “pretty face” label that has followed him throughout his career.

“I became a father out of recklessness, but it was the most beautiful recklessness of my life,” the Italian actor says in the candid cover interview. Morrone also discusses his friendship with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, explaining that it is natural for the two to occasionally call and say hello.

The editorial traces Morrone’s journey from the outskirts of Milan to Hollywood, where he has worked alongside major names including Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, Blake Lively, Sydney Sweeney, and Amanda Seyfried, as well as director Guy Ritchie. His résumé challenges the reputation he once cultivated through impulsive interviews, unapologetic bravado, and a self-assurance frequently interpreted as arrogance.

From Harry Potter to Hollywood

Morrone’s ambition began long before the success of 365 Days. Watching Harry Potter at age eleven inspired him to pursue a life in cinema.

“Every scene captivated me,” he recalls. “I studied every shot to understand how that magic could possibly come to life on screen.”

At that age, he says, acting had nothing to do with fame, money, or success. It was about play, imagination, and the thrill of creating something magical.

His early life, however, was far removed from Hollywood. At nine, Morrone helped his mother care for his father, who had Alzheimer’s disease. As a teenager, he worked to contribute to the family’s finances. Four women helped raise him, shaping the man he would later become.

Fatherhood, Loss, and Starting Again

The interview explores Morrone’s most vulnerable experiences, including depression and alcohol abuse after being separated from his children. His sons, Brando and Marcus, now live with him—and their opinions carry more weight than any review or public judgment.

They have watched nearly all his films, although one remains off-limits.

Fatherhood also informs his deeply personal project Lui, a film dedicated to his late father and centered on everything that remained unspoken between them—the conversations they never had and the words they did not have time to exchange.

Beneath Morrone’s confidence lies a persistent fear that something could happen to his children. It is one of several insecurities he reveals while discussing family, love, sex, freedom, and the relationships—both real and rumored—that have attracted public attention.

The Confidence Behind the Public Persona

Morrone does not entirely abandon the provocative personality audiences recognize. Joining the interview by video call while traveling toward Capri and Ischia, he jokes that he is curious to discover how “mean” the interviewer plans to be.

Yet the conversation gradually exposes what his famous self-assurance may be protecting. Morrone speaks about meditation and how it taught him to “fly”—not by escaping reality, but by finding a different relationship with fear, success, and uncertainty.

The result is a portrait of an actor who cannot be reduced to appearances. His confidence and contradictions coexist with childhood hardship, professional discipline, profound loss, and devotion to his sons.
